Bernard Francis was called to the Bar in 2005 and founded The Law Offices of Bernard Francis & Associates in 2006. With extensive experience in criminal and corporate litigation, he made history as the first Malaysian lawyer to litigate a case at the European Court of Sports in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Currently, Bernard is defending the first criminal prosecution under Section 17A of the MACC Act 2009. His expertise in oil & gas, commercial litigation, and criminal law led him to co-establish Triune ABMS Advisory Sdn Bhd, a firm specializing in anti-bribery management systems.
Bernard has played a pivotal role in shaping legal interpretations of Section 17A, with the Court of Appeal affirming that the defense bears the burden of proving adequate procedures.
